Our Physicians

Alidad Arabshahi, M.D.

Alidad Arabshahi, M.D.Dr. Arabshahi is a native of New Jersey and a Trinity College alumnus where he was inducted to the prestigious Phi Beta Kappa honor society. He completed his medical training at George Washington University in 1998 where he was also elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. He completed his otolaryngology/head and neck surgery training at the University of Maryland in 2003. He started Potomac Ear, Nose and Throat, PLLC with Dr. Ipakchi in 2004. He is a board certified physician by the American Board of Otolaryngology. He is also certified in Sleep Medicine and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy. Dr. Arabshahi has since furthered his education by completing the Executive Master of Business Administration program at Georgetown University in Washington, DC. He has been recognized as Northern Virginia Magazine's Top Doctors from 2010-2017 and has also been honored as a Washingtonian Top Doctor. He has received many Patient’s Choice awards.

Dr. Alidad Arabshahi

Ramin Ipakchi, M.D.

Ramin Ipakchi, M.D.Dr. Ipakchi is a native of Baltimore and a University of Virginia alumnus where he was inducted to the prestigious Phi Beta Kappa honor society.  He completed his medical training at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in 1999.  He then completed his otolaryngology/head and neck surgery training at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in 2004.  Together with Dr. Arabshahi, they started Potomac Ear, Nose and Throat, PLLC in 2004.  He is a board certified physician by the American Board of Otolaryngology.  He is also board certified in Sleep Medicine.  He has been awarded as one of America’s Top Physicians, Northern Virginia Magazine's Top Doctors 2010-2017, and has also been selected as a Washingtonian Top Doctor.  He has also received many Patient’s Choice Awards.

Dr. Ramin Ipakchi

Alex Y. Cheng, M.D.

Alex Cheng, M.D.Dr. Cheng is a native of central Pennsylvania and graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pittsburgh with degree in Neuroscience and Psychology.   He completed his medical training at Temple University in 2009.  He then completed his otolaryngology/head and neck surgery training at the George Washington University in 2014.  During his training, he learned advanced techniques in head and neck cancer management and gained extensive pediatric ENT experience at Children’s National Medical Center. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology and has been honored as one of Northern Virginia Magazine's Top Doctors 2016-2017.  He enjoys treating both kids and adults in the full range of ear, nose and throat disorders.

Dr. Alex Y. Cheng

Vesna Mrzljak, M.D.

Vesna Mrzljak, M.D.Dr. Vesna Mrzljak is board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, and has been in private practice in Alexandria since 1983.  She is retired from general otolaryngology practice however continues to offer cosmetic facial injections at the Alexandria Office.

Dr. Mrzljak graduated from the Medical School of the University of Zagreb in Zagreb, Croatia. She completed her residency in Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery at the State University of New York at Buffalo. She continued sub-specialty training in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery by completing a one-year fellowship in Washington, D.C.

Dr. Vesna Mrzljak

Jenni Barnhizer, MSN, FNP-BC

Jenni Barnhize, Nurse PractitionerJenni Barnhizer is a native of Georgia and settled in Virginia after serving nine years in the Army.  She earned her B.S.N from George Mason University and Masters of Nursing from Simmons College, where she was inducted to Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.  She is licensed by the Virginia Board of Nursing and certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.  She joined our team in February 2018, and is a full-time Nurse Practitioner on our staff.

 


Our Audiologists


Tonya Horton, MS, CCC-A

Tonya Horton, MS, CCC-ATonya received her B.S. in Business Management from George Mason University in 1998 and her M.S. in Audiology from Howard University in 2003. She has been practicing audiology for eleven years and is licensed by the Virginia Board of Hearing Aid Dealers and the Commonwealth of Virginia. She is also certified by the American Speech, Language and Hearing Association. Tonya is a resident in Woodbridge and she is a part time hearing aid dispenser on our staff.

 

Kerry Laub, Au.D.

Kerry Laub, Au.D.Kerry received her B.S. in Communication Sciences and Disorders from James Madison University in 2012 and her Doctorate in Audiology (Au.D.) from Gallaudet University in 2017.  She is licensed audiologist by the Virginia Board of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology and is a certified member of the American Speech-Language Hearing Association.  Kerry is a full-time audiologist on our staff and enjoys working with patients to find the best solutions for their hearing loss, tinnitus, or balance disorders.  

 

Frederick Wiredu, Audiology Technician

Audiology TechnicianFrederick Wiredu is an audiology technician who has been with Potomac ENT since 2016.  He has excelled at assisting our physicians and audiologist by successfully providing our patients with the audiology testing services they require.  In his free time, Frederick ("Freddy") enjoys both playing and watching soccer.
